News: Special day for Katrina's Cards

By

Katrina's Cards has scooped the title of Best Established Business at the Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2008. Former school teacher Katrina Robinson-Brown set up her wedding invitations and card-making business after she discovered no company could produce the bespoke design she wanted at her own wedding. She said: "I had a wedding with a medieval theme and a burgundy and gold colour scheme - and discovered none of the companies I approached could adapt their products for me. So I made them myself. "I enjoyed it so much I decided to do a bit of research into setting up a company and got loads of help from Rotherham Youth Enterprise who helped me move into a unit at Century Business Centre and gave me lots of great advice." And the gamble has paid off - on top of winning the Young Entrepreneurs Best Established Business award, she has also been awarded the title of Yorkshire Brides Wedding Stationery Designer of the Year 2008. "I’m so proud," the 30-year-old former music teacher at Rotherham’s Aston Comprehensive School. "2008 has been my year and it shows that all the hard work does pay off." Katrina's collection will be on display at the Yorkshire Brides event at Harrogate this weekend.
