Two
Rotherham manufacturing companies have been highlighted in a report by the government on the future of UK manufacturing. In the section on technology exploitation and accelerating the spread of new technologies, the innovative approach by
Rotherham firm
AESSEAL is highlighted.
AESSEAL specialises in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals and support systems for pumps and rotating equipment to prevent liquids
and gases from escaping into the environment. The company’s differentiated position is based on customer service, people and innovation.
AESSEAL is continually involved in product innovation and has developed 60 patents in recent years. The sales growth from patented products has gone up from £324,000 in 1999 to more than £30 million a year.
AESSEAL has experienced growth in excess of 20% per year since it was founded in 1983. In the section on the low carbon economy and the opportunities for manufacturing, the green growth of
ITI Energy Limited is highlighted. Based at the Innovation Technology Centre on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in
Rotherham, the company manufactures a compact and highly efficient thermal destruction technology based on a patented advanced
gasification design. The technology is used in the
gasification of biomass and the potential applications include replacing current natural gas or diesel fuel use
in industrial boilers or furnaces, providing distributed power generation where power demands are less than a few megawatts and displacing gasoline or diesel fuel in an internal combustion engine generator.
