News: Turley Associates give Aldi a helping hand at Manvers

Turley Associates are celebrating after securing planning permission for a key part of the £130m Waterfront development at Manvers, Rotherham. Acting on behalf of premium discount retailer Aldi, leading planning and urban design consultancy Turley Associates has advised on the planning strategy for the scheme which is located on the site of the former Manvers Colliery. Vicki Ingleby, Associate Director at Turley Associates stated: "There is already a huge amount of redevelopment currently underway in the Manvers area and the creation of the new centre is an ambitious next phase. The range and mix of facilities available will help to bring the community back to life. The team at Turley Associates worked closely with Aldi, to ensure that the proposal met with key policy criteria for the development and are delighted it has now been granted planning permission." The centre will also provide essential facilities for local residents living within the Manvers Waterfront development and the Fitzwilliam Fields development. Creating 40 jobs, the neighbourhood centre will also include five smaller units designed to accommodate local shops, cafes, crèches and takeaways. Simon Plumb, property director for Aldi Darlington stated: "We’re delighted to be able to support the regeneration in the Dearne Valley and hope that the new store will act as a catalyst for further investment in the community of Manvers."
