News: Rotherham student aiming to be the Young Engineer for Britain

Tim Wright, a sixth form student from Maltby Comprehensive School in Rotherham is in London this week for the finals of the Young Engineer for Britain competition. He will be competing for the first prize of £5,000 with his iPod docker and light. Last year Tim won the product with the most innovative use of technology category and the best designed product at the Young Engineer for Britain regional finals at Kelham Island Industrial Museum as part of the 8th annual Sheffield CAD/CAM event. Young Engineers is a charitable organisation whose purpose is to inspire young people to develop an interest in engineering and, in doing so, recognise the importance and excitement of engineering as a future career option. Young Engineers supports a huge network of after school engineering clubs, runs a wide range of national competitions and the prestigious Young Engineer for Britain Competition. It will be judged at The Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Event on Thursday March 5.
