The centre piece at the opening of a Technology Park in Qatar has been made possible by the expert team at a Rotherham prototyping company. The Product Workshop was approached by an events productions company to help out on a specially commissioned commemorative award for the opening of the QSTP (Qatar Science and Technology Park). QSTP was inaugurated in the presence of His Highness The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, in a glittering ceremony before 1,200 prestigious guests. Among them were renowned figures in the energy, environment, health sciences and ICT industries, including: Sir Richard Branson, Founder of Virgin; Jeff Immelt, Chief Executive of GE; Linda Cook, Shell Executive Director; Stephen Cassiani, President of ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company; Symal Gupta, Chairman of Tata; Sir Martin Evans, Nobel Laureate in Medicine, Cardiff University; Professor Ian Leslie, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, Cambridge University. In a very short timescale experts at the Barbot Hall site were able to create a glittering crucible. CAD data had to be generated before the crucible was built up on one of the firm's 3D printers. The Crucible took nearly 40 hours to build utilising a new clear material that The Product Workshop had recently installed. Experts in London added the finishing sparkle by adding gold dust to the external layer and a LED light show to play inside. Following the inauguration, Dr. Tidu Maini, Executive Chairman of QSTP and science advisor to the Royals, has requested the crucible to be a permanent installation at the park.
