Metalysis, the Cambridge spin-out company based in Rotherham, has appointed Dr Stephen Holloway and Dr Lee Shaw to its executive team. Holloway becomes engineering director and Shaw becomes technology director. The appointments signal the continuing commitment of Metalysis in developing and scaling up the technology for the application of its pioneering FFC Cambridge Process for the production of special metals and alloys. Metalysis holds the worldwide exploitation rights to the process which sees specialist powder metals created in a simple, cost effective process with significant environmental benefits. It expects to begin commercialisation of the process later this year. The strategic focus, which Drs Holloway and Shaw will help to facilitate, is upon the production of titanium, tantalum, and related alloys. These, in turn, are critical natural resources used increasingly by major global industries such as marine, medical, aerospace, and electronics. Chief executive of Metalysis Mark Bertolini said: "Metalysis is committed to be at the forefront of a transformation in the production of special metals and alloys. The FFC Cambridge Process is recognised as having the potential to offer far-reaching commercial and environmental benefits. "We are delighted that as we progress through scaling up towards commercial production, such distinguished professionals as Steve Holloway and Lee Shaw should choose to further their careers with Metalysis and to help us address this next exciting phase of development."
