News: Bromley launches Skeleton Challenge
The 2008 World Skeleton champion Kristan Bromley and 2006 Olympic silver medallist Shelley Rudman launched the Bromley Formula ICE Skeleton Challenge at Hinde House School last week.
As part of the Formula Ice 2010 Academy programme launching later this year, the Skeleton Education Challenge is an interactive and fun education experience that uses the extreme winter sport of Skeleton Bobsleigh, world class athletes and a game simulation platform to inspire young people at the key decision stages in their career to become the next generation of scientists, engineers and technologists.
Kristan, Shelley and Formula ICE engineers delivered several workshops throughout the day giving all students a taste of performance sport and its dependence on engineering and technology. Bromley Technologies Ltd, run with Kristan's brother, Richard at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham, is a world-leader in sports technology.
Kristan Bromley said: "The Skeleton Challenge programme is not just a regional or national first – it's a world first! Learning about science, engineering and technology should be inspirational. We aim to contribute to that."
