News: Rotherham helps companies tackle the recession

In a series of free sessions across the borough, a group of business experts will be offering tips and information to help businesses not just survive but potentially grow their way out of the downturn.
The experts include a director from Rotherham-based international consultancy Huthwaite International and business advisers from Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO), the Borough Council's regeneration arm, and Business Link Yorkshire.
The events form an initiative organised by the public-private sector partnership, Rotherham Work and Skills Board, a key player in improving the local economy.
Board chairman Neil Baxter said: "This free support could be crucial to businesses, including helping them consider innovative ways of using and training staff to support business growth."
RiDO's business development team manager, Tim O'Connell, said: "We know our business centres offer great support to their tenants, and costs there are low, but we want to widen the support and practical advice beyond the centres."
Events, with either breakfast or afternoon served:
• Thursday, July 9, 7.30-10.30am – Century@ Manvers business centre
• Thursday, July 28, 4.30-7.30pm – Fusion@Magna, Templeborough
• Thursday, August 20, 7.30-10.30am – Matrix@Dinnington
All events include tours of the centres so that companies can see for themselves what they offer. The first step to possibly saving your company is a phone call to reserve a place – just contact Laura Brown or Rachel Blake on 01709 823817 or by email
