News: Inditherm system benefits European soap manufacturer

By

A soap and personal care manufacturing site in the North West has recently installed a system from Rotherham's Inditherm to maintain the temperature of surface acting agents.

Critical to the manufacturing process, the surfactant needs to be kept a constant temperature of 37.5oC to a precision of better than ±2.5oC, with no hot or cold spots.

This has been successfully achieved using Inditherm heating technology with the advanced IndithermPlus control system.

The project involved Inditherm designing a customised heating system using their patented, flexible carbon polymer technology. Over 100 metres of pipe work was wrapped with the low voltage heating pads, fully insulated and enclosed with fixed aluzinc cladding.

The process is monitored and controlled by six controllers with 68 individually addressed temperature sensors.

Commenting on the contract, Inditherm's CEO, Nick Bettles said: "This application proves the capability of the new IndithermPlus control and monitoring system.

This project is the first application that combines our core "Inditherm" heating technology with an advanced digital control system "IndithermPlus" and demonstrates the process controls that can be achieved when dealing with temperature-critical product."

"We are optimistic that the operational benefits of the Inditherm technology will be of interest to other sites in this customer's group."
