News: Engineering firm set to grow from Rotherham office
A specialist catering and engineering firm supplying off-shore oil and gas rigs, expects to do more business on-shore now, as more recession-hit Britons holiday in the UK this year.
So confident is IDL Engineering Services, that is has recently set up its first northern office in the Fusion @ Magna business centre in Rotherham.
IDL customer service manager Sue Hammond said: "Despite the economic gloom out there at the moment, we thought Rotherham – with its industrial history and reputation for hard-working people – was the perfect place for our company's first northern office."
The company is a specialist designer, supplier and installer of commercial catering equipment to customers in the hospitality, food equipment and food service sectors, both direct and through contractors.
The move to Fusion, run by Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO) – the Borough Council's regeneration arm, has helped the business, Sue Hammond said.
"Our overheads are minimal. We can happily bring big corporates in here for meetings. It's more efficient, there's less red tape and it’s more personal. It's been a great move for us."
IDL sales director John Thresh added: "Since we moved to Fusion we have taken on three new staff and are very positive about the future, which is key for a good business.
"With more Britons saying they will be taking a so-called "staycation" this year, we're anticipating the demand for our catering equipment here in the UK is only going to get bigger."
