News: Strong results for Cutting & Wear

By

Rotherham-based Cutting & Wear has made an impressive start to its new financial year, having achieved just under 20% of its sales targets for 2009-2010 in the first month alone.

The company manufactures and supplies downhole tool products and services to oil service companies across the world.

Cutting & Wear was in robust financial position prior to the downturn and having made prudent decisions the company is emerging from the difficult trading conditions, having maintained year-on-year growth, with a growing order book and significant new enquiries from companies in Russia, the Middle East and South America.

John Barnett, Cutting & Wear's operations director, will be joining a trade mission to Tripoli, Libya, to meet existing customers and other key players in the oil and gas industry in this very dynamic region.

And as a result of sales manager Brett Russell's increasing foreign travel, he and a number of colleagues are now learning Spanish, reflecting the growth markets that the company will be increasingly operating in.

Commenting on these strong results, managing director Mark Russell said: "Whilst we're delighted with the very positive start to our new year we are keeping our feet firmly on the ground.

"With the economy starting to pick up and demand for oil increasing around the globe we should be in a strong position to exceed our targets for this year."
