News: Rotherham Enterprise supports local dance school

By

The Nikki Lynam School of Performing Arts (NLSPA), based in Rotherham has called upon local business project, Rotherham Enterprise, to help refresh their entrepreneurial vision.

Now based in Rotherham town centre, the school was set up in 2001 as an independent mini stage school offering students a taster of showbiz life.

The community-based programme put NLSPA in contact with Peter Robinson, part of a team of experienced business community support officers (BCSO's) from the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, who provide both general and specialist business support on a one-to-one basis in the area.

With Peter's help, the school has revised its management systems, created a new business plan and now have a forward-looking marketing strategy, enabling their excellent dance successes to match their attitude toward running the business.

Nikki said: "We have enjoyed working with Peter, who made us see what we were doing in a new light. Dare we say it, he made the process fun and looked at our School of Performing Arts from what we wanted to achieve for our pupils."

Brij Chaggar, a business advisor from Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce said: "It's easy to forget that existing businesses might also need support when developing their future plans and the structure of their establishment.

"Becoming locked into a certain business mindset is a trap many companies face, but through our help, organisations can benefit from top guidance and advice which is totally free.

"We are thrilled to have been able to help Nikki and her school, which is a fantastic institution, highly valuable in delivering quality performing arts training to people of all ages in the area. We hope that the future of NLSPA continues to be a great one."
