News: Finance Yorkshire prepares to launch

By

Finance Yorkshire has organised a number of events in March to launch the £90m fund set up to provide businesses across the Yorkshire and Humber region with funding to start and grow.

The fund will be unveiled by The Rt Hon Rosie Winterton MP, Minister for Regional Economic Development and Co-ordination, at the Leeds event on Friday March 12 and a South Yorkshire event is to take place at The Cutlers Hall, Sheffield on March 16.

Finance Yorkshire can provide seedcorn, loan and equity linked investments, ranging from £15k to £2m, specifically to help small and medium businesses meet the gaps in the market for the funding they need for growth and development.

It will be capitalised by grants from Yorkshire Forward's Single Programme (£15m), European Regional Development Fund (£30m) and the JEREMIE initiative from the European Investment Bank (£45m).

The fund is a result of work by the Rotherham based South Yorkshire Investment Fund (SYIF) with Partnership Investment Finance (PIF) and Yorkshire Forward.
