News: Apprenticeship event for Rotherham manufacturers
Manufacturers and engineers in Rotherham are being invited to a special breakfast briefing where they will hear from the town's leading companies on how they are solving industrial skills shortages.
The event takes place at the Advanced Manufacturing Park on March 19.
Most companies recognise the need to ensure that valuable skills are passed onto the next generation of employees and that business demands puts pressure on investment in training and development.
Newburgh Engineering and AESSEAL from Rotherham have found a way to solve that conundrum with apprentices and will be sharing their experience at the special breakfast briefing. They are investing in apprenticeships to help them tap into innovation and fresh ideas. They are ensuring that essential skills are retained so their companies have a long term future. They see apprenticeships as the skills solution for manufacturers and engineers.
Vince Middleton, managing director of Newburgh Engineering Ltd said: "We are totally committed to growing our workforce through apprenticeships. Our experience has shown that there is real talent in South Yorkshire among our young people. With the proper training and support they become enthusiastic, committed and valuable employees – it's the way forward for our sector and we'd encourage others to do the same."
At the briefing delegates will have an opportunity to find out about training and support that is available to them from various agencies to help them take on a new apprenticeship. There will be networking opportunities and the chance to discover how Made in Sheffield and its branding can help them win more business. Delegates can also take a tour of the Advanced Manufacturing Park to learn about its facilities.
