News: Sizer builds international links
Sizer, the pelleting company launched by Newburgh Engineering in Rotherham, is building international links in the Far East with the help of students on the Masters in International Business Management course at Sheffield Hallam University.
Four students were given the task of sourcing information on agents within Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, as part of its ambitious global expansion plans supplying pelleting equipment and spare parts.
Roger Pearson, managing director of Sizer, said: "We are delighted with the results of the research carried out by the students, who are all native speakers of the local languages.
"There are many opportunities for us to expand our business in the Far East and it is very important that we can find suitable agents here. The project has given us some excellent information and contacts and we are confident that this will help us to develop new business opportunities in these countries."
The company already has a customer base in many countries outside Europe, including Canada, Australia and Japan and the project was part of its plan to expand its distribution network of component parts for pelleting machines.
Dr Andrew Johnston, project supervisor for Sheffield Hallam University, said: "As part of their Masters Degree, all students have to carry out a research project with a business and this one was particularly relevant and valuable. This was a great opportunity for our students to be able to assist a local company, whilst giving them direct experience of the world of international business."
