News: Horbury secures BSF contracts

By

Rotherham based the Horbury Group has secured six new contracts under the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) scheme, taking their value of work completed on key educational developments to £7.6m.

Horbury subsidiaries will complete partition, joinery and ceiling installations on projects in Tameside, South Tyneside and Gateshead, Durham and Bradford, further demonstrating their excellent track record in delivering on public sector contracts.

Trevor Wragg, managing director of the Horbury Group, said: "These recent BSF projects wins highlight how the Horbury Group has developed a wealth of expertise and this means that we can continue to provide our clients with a comprehensive service.

"The work of our subsidiary groups dovetail, giving us the capabilities to offer an efficient and cost effective installation package for the whole construction industry. This strategic approach means we can ensure our reputation for service excellence is maintained."

In South Tyneside and Gateshead, the group has been appointed by Carillion to complete work on Heworth Grange, Thomas Hepburn Community School and Cleadon Park Primary Care Centre in contracts totalling more than £2.3 million, while in Tameside, Horbury will carry out contracts at Mossley Hollins High School, a 750 place specialist in performing arts and sport school in a contract to the value of £750,000.

Carillion has also appointed Horbury to undertake £1.25 million of work on Shotton Hall Secondary School and Easington Community Science College, which are part of Durham's Wave Three BSF scheme.

Additional work for the group includes Beckfoot School in Bradford, Darton High School in Barnsley and Winifred Holtby School in Hull, with contracts totalling almost £1.4 million.

These latest contract awards follow a number of notable BSF project completions for the Horbury Group, including West Derby School and Ernest Cookson School in Liverpool, Blessed Trinity RC College development in Burnley and Silverdale School in Sheffield, collectively worth more than £2.5 million.

Three of Horbury's main subsidiaries, MWS Joinery, Horbury Building Systems and Titan Ceilings, have undertaken work on the majority of the key BSF projects.
