News: Fashion show hits Rotherham town centre

By

Local businesses have worked together to stage Rotherham town centre's first ever fashion show held on Saturday June 5th.

Eight retail outlets from Rotherham town centre showed off the very best of the latest summer fashions, including Image, Yellow Brick Road, Internacionale, Mesmerize, Dressed by KS, Ethel Austin, TDFC (To Die For Couture) and Bon Marche.

The event was organised by ACT for Rotherham, which is the group that is responsible for events and activities that help to promote town centre businesses.

ACT For Rotherham's Donna Tuxford said: "This has been an exciting and hugely successful event. Shopping is a leisure experience and the fashion show demonstrated some of the best that Rotherham has to offer and that there really is no need to shop for clothes elsewhere!

"From independent boutiques with their very own designers, to affordable high street fashion, Rotherham town centre has something for everyone. This event was about showcasing our fantastic local businesses and encouraging people to shop here to ensure the continuous prosperity of the town."

And it wasn't all about fashion, as fresh from the finals of Britain's Got Talent, dance troupe ICE entertained the crowds with their stunning TV performance, which created an amazing vibe in All Saints Square.

Councillor Mahroof Hussain, Cabinet Member for Community Development and Engagement, said: "This was a fantastic event and is credit to the hard work of the local fashion stores for putting on such an amazing show. It just goes to show what can be achieved here in Rotherham when we work together as One Town One Community – the opportunities are endless!"
