News: Aston Hall Hotel taken over by BDL Management

By

BDL Management, one of the UK's largest multi-brand hotel management companies, has taken over Aston Hall Hotel in Rotherham after the owners went into administration.

BDL Management has been appointed to manage the Bradford-based Tomahawk Hotel Group, following the appointment of Sarah Rayment, Shay Bannon and Francis Graham Newton of BDO as Joint Administrators of the group on August 24.

BDL Management will now assist in managing the three contemporary hotels, Aston Hall, Woodlands in Leeds and Great Victoria, Bradford which offer luxury accommodation in central destinations across Yorkshire.

The addition of these three hotels, which were previously run by the owner-manager, brings the total number of hotels managed by BDL Hotels to 34, making it Scotland's largest hotel management company.

The company, now running nine hotels in administration on behalf of various partners, is going from strength to strength within a difficult time for hoteliers.

BDL Chief Financial Officer, Stewart Campbell said: "We are delighted to bring these hotels into our portfolio and continue our expansion across the UK.

"Our flexibility ensures we're well placed to act quickly within the marketplace and bring hotels within our structured approach to hotel management."

Built in 1772, Aston Hall stands in 55 acres of land and was originally designed by York architect John Carr. The Tomahawk Group bought Aston Hall in 2005 and invested heavily in restoring and updating the hotel with a cool, contemporary design that is high in style but with all the original features very much intact.

The hotel has been extended to 52 rooms including Darcy House and a new West Wing, and just last month, the group submitted further plans to create a spa and treatment area that would take the number of people employed at the hotel from 44 to 50.
