News: AESSEAL achieves £100m in sales
Leading Rotherham business, AESSEAL, has reached a landmark in their continued growth by passing the £100m mark for sales for 2010, the first time that the sum has been reached in a calendar year in the history of the company.
The Templeborough firm is the world's fourth largest mechanical seal business. They specialise in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals, bearing protectors and environmental control systems for process equipment, maximising reliability and protecting the environment from leakage.
The business has expanded at a compound rate of more than 20% per annum, with uninterrupted sales and profit growth. Total sales were expected to reach £103m for 2010 with their Component Seals division alone (a small portion of group sales) on track to break £6m continuing an eight-year compound sales growth of 17%.
Chris Rea, managing director at AESSEAL said: "I have now been with the business over 30 years. Total sales in 1979 were around £400,000. We have had 30 years of uninterrupted sales growth and our first £100m year is a fantastic achievement."
With subsidiaries in 32 countries and now selling to 93 countries worldwide, AESSEAL's success is a direct result of the company's focus on customer service and research and development.
The company has recently invested in two machines worth over £700,000 each, and continues a very active research and development programme, reinvesting literally millions per year in further improving the designs. The company has 54 patents granted, with a further 46 pending, and operates 158 trademarks.
In November AESSEAL acquired Bedford-based competitor, Ceetak Engineering Group to create a new division specialising in the total management and support of pumps and other rotating equipment installed on applications ranging from the chemical and pharmaceutical industries to food and waste management.
