News: Assured targeting Middle East as part of growth plan

By

Rotherham managing director Simon Stokes is aiming for the top as he develops major new business links in the Middle East.

Simon, the Managing Director of Dinnington-based Assured Fire and Security was recently at the Intersec Fire and Security Show in Dubai, the world's foremost trade exhibition outside of Europe and an important doorway to new customers in the expanding Middle East market.

Last year, over 19,000 visitors attended the three day event which featured 717 exhibitors.

And Simon took time out to visit the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, whose "At the Top" logo seemed entirely appropriate for a South Yorkshire business that is growing rapidly both nationally and internationally.

"We are already doing business in Nigeria and Sudan and have potential contracts coming up over the next few months in Afghanistan and Libya," said Simon.

"We are very keen to develop some strategic partnerships with suppliers in Dubai and the rest of the Middle East as it will provide a good strategic and geographical base for Assured to work out of."

Simon also visited Abu Dhabi's Masdar development, hailed as the world's first zero-carbon city, designed to be free of both cars and skyscrapers and to be powered by the sun.

"I went to look at the work that is being done in this fascinating new project," Simon explained.

"This is very much the sort of development that Assured would like to become involved in, a groundbreaking scheme featuring the technology of the future.

"For a South Yorkshire company to be involved in any way in that sort of development would be a major coup for Assured and would again strengthen our position in the international market."
