News: Shop Local campaign to continue in Rotherham town centre
Businesses reported that they would like the opportunity to remain within the scheme and continue benefiting from the targeted marketing efforts ensuring shopper loyalty.
The Shop Local scheme, initially trialled for six months, has seen over 100 businesses participate and as a result over 10,000 people register for a loyalty card.
The council's Retail Investment Manager, Bernadette Rushton, said: "We've had a huge response following the launch of Shop Local last July and we know that the Shop Local brand and its basic concept are widely known.
"Moving on to the next stage of the campaign we want to travel the borough and talk to people even more about the shopping offer we have here in Rotherham town centre and the benefits of shopping locally."
Card holders are entitled to around 100 offers including money off meals out and entry to clubs and bars, discounts on clothing, beauty treatments, food shopping and much more.
People who don't already have a card can register at Rotherham Visitor Centre, local libraries or on the town centre website.
Alongside this, the Retail Investment Team aim to encourage the best customer service and standards of appearance to add to the appeal of shopping locally in Rotherham town centre.
RMBC also said that they are committed to hosting a range of free events and specialist markets throughout the year.
