News: Magna is cool

The Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham has been named as the coolest venue for awards ceremonies by an industry magazine.

Magna is also only one of two venues outside of London to have won an award.

The COOL Venues Awards were developed in 2007 by Wesley Mendy of Prestige Events magazine for the benefit of their UK readership of event organisers.

The judging panel comprised of event organisers, industry experts and Prestige Events Magazine readers who considered hundreds of UK venues to identify the latest hot ticket. They said that a COOL venue should have: "Charisma, Originality, Style, Innovation, Sex Appeal, Authenticity and Uniqueness!"

David Friesner, Welcome to Yorkshire's South Yorkshire Area Director, said: "Magna can be rightly proud of winning this prestigious accolade and they are reinforcing South Yorkshire's position as a leading destination for events. They continue to set standards for the rest of the country to follow and I hope this is one of many awards to come."

Magna is the UK's first science adventure centre and is set in the former Templeborough steelworks. It celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year.
