News: Rotherham Titans looking to move to a new ground

By

Spencer Fearn, a Rotherham businessman and director at the the town's rugby club, the Rotherham Titans, has recruited ex-football agent Eric Hall to increase the club's profile ahead of a prospective move to a new ground.

Fearn has made extensive enquiries to secure a ground with better facilities than their current home at Clifton Lane.

Spencer said: "If we are to move up a level we need to get a new ground. We have been in talks with officials at Don Valley, Millmoor, Bramall Lane, Hillsborough and the Keepmoat and we may have to move outside Rotherham but I can't say yet where we will end up.

"I want to introduce Friday night rugby to the club. It wouldn't be a problem to stay at Clifton Lane for one more year but if we get promoted we will need to be moving to a ground with at least 10,000 capacity."

The Titans played home games at Millmoor, then home to Rotherham United Football Club during their season in the top flight of English rugby.

Now a local radio DJ in Essex, Hall said: "I feel I changed the face of football in the 1980s and I think I can do the same for rugby. I see a lot of similarities between Wimbledon of the 1980s and Rotherham Titans of today. We can promote the players and I can bring soap stars and pop stars to play in exhibition games."

Spencer added: "Eric brings great experience and contacts to the club and he can help boost our profile as we try to move up to the next level."
