News: BeingBetter one year on

By

BeingBetter Rotherham was launched a year ago to tackle health and financial wellbeing in the workplace and since then the team has worked with over 90 local businesses, creating and safeguarding jobs across the borough.

Funded by European Regional Development Fund, the BeingBetter project provides support for local Rotherham businesses to improve their economic performance and staff retention by improving the health and financial wellbeing of employees.

The project, managed by Nicholas Associates, works with a network of local partners and specialists, including NHS Health Trainers, The Source, The Chamber of Commerce and local gyms, to help local businesses make some small changes that can make a big difference.

Karen Shaw, BeingBetter Project Manager at Nicholas Associates said: "BeingBetter is a great project for the Rotherham community. We help employers to work towards achieving a healthier, happier and more productive workplace, which is good news for local businesses and good news for employees.

"Our support is free of charge, which is even better news given that recent research has demonstrated that for every £1 an employer invests in health and wellbeing, their return on investment could be as much as £4."

Carolyn Jackson, Owner of Funkz Hair Salons has received support from Karen and the team over the past 10 months and says:

"The BeingBetter team has helped Funkz work through challenges faced during the last year and given me the business advice and support that I have needed. I now have members of staff who are completing NVQ's and as a team we are all happier and business is better."
