News: Car Central set on the road to business success

By

A Rotherham man with the drive to set up his own business has done so with the help and support from the Rotherham Enterprise Project.

Gavin Wright, from Dalton, is now a successful entrepreneur after launching his own company, Car Central, a motor vehicle service and repair business, just four months ago and it's going from strength to strength.

Gavin said: "After getting my hands on my first car engine at the age of 16, I knew I wanted to be a mechanic. I enjoy working with my hands on practical tasks and I love cars. It's the perfect career for me and now that I'm my own boss it couldn't get any better!"

Gavin was eligible for the UK Steel Enterprise grant which gave him a £500 boost just as he was establishing the company. The grant went towards purchasing everything from a roller door for his premises and a diagnostic computer to local advertising, signage for his van and creating some business cards.

Gavin's business coach, Julia Millea from RiDO, part of the Rotherham Enterprise Project said: "Gavin came to us wanting to start up his own company after losing faith in his previous employer. Gavin boasted a wide range of skills and knowledge that just needed steering in the right direction.

"After just four months, he is already proving a hit with local residents in Eastwood where Car Central is based."
