News: RCAT to invest £3m in town centre campus
Rotherham College of Arts and Technology (RCAT) is to invest a further £3m in the facilities of their town centre campus.
The college has secured a £1m Enhanced Renewal Grant awarded by the Skills Funding Agency for new improvement plans that follow the £7m Wentworth Building that opened last year.
The investment will add further to the already highly-equipped Engineering Department and transform the facilities for science teaching. There will also be new hair, beauty and nail salons and a development of the College's Learning Support and Foundation Learning facilities.
Gill Alton, chief executive and principal at RCAT, said: "This is fantastic news for the College, for our students and for Rotherham. It will be exciting to see the developments take place and to watch the College transform. We have some excellent plans in place to improve the College experience for our students."
Kenneth Barrass, chair of corporation at RCAT, added: "The Board are delighted with the news that the college has been successful in receiving the grant from the SFA. This additional development will ensure that the standard of student provision is maintained at the highest level possible."
Opened in September 2011, the Wentworth Building provides a new focal point entrance for the campus development. Designed by Bond Bryan, the building houses high specification classrooms and facilities including IT rooms and Higher Education teaching and learning facilities.
