News: Spencer signs for Stockport
A former vice-chairman of East Stirlingshire Football Club, Fearn is the managing director of LikeSkills, a national organisation providing training opportunities for young people.
Rotherham born Fearn developed the company over the last eight years in London and the South East and LifeSkills is recognised as one of the leading Learning Providers in the UK. They opened a training centre at Enterprise House in the town centre in 2010 offering employment and apprenticeship learning programmes.
The company is working with the Football League Trust in developing apprenticeships across the 72 Football League clubs.
Spencer has a long history in sport and despite his spell as a young player at Sheffield United, he is a lifetime Sheffield Wednesday fan and has also represented Rotherham Boys at football, cricket and rugby union and played rugby league for Sheffield Eagles youth side.
He is a former director of Rotherham Titans Rugby Union Football Club and is currently working with Rotherham boxing promoter, Dave Coldwell.
Spencer said: "I am absolutely delighted to be coming onto the board at County. There is a lot of hard work ahead as we aim to get back into the Football League, but after meeting my co-Directors on Saturday it is clear that we have a focused and dedicated team of people with the best interests of our club at heart."
Lord Peter Snape, chairman of Stockport County, added: "On behalf of all at Edgeley Park I would like to welcome Spencer to the club. He is exactly the type of person that the club needs as we move forward. He has a wealth of experience within football and has made a significant contribution of funds which shows how committed he is to the future of Stockport County FC."
Hampered by off field instability, including a period in administration in 2009, The Blue Square BET Premier club were relegated from the Football League at the end of the 2010–11 season.
