News: New appointment at SteelPhalt

By

Rotherham road making company, SteelPhalt has appointed a new technical manager.

Adam Dean, who is 32 and originally from Rotherham, studied civil engineering at Sheffield College before first joining SteelPhalt in 1999 as a technician, eventually progressing to become a production foreman.

He left the company to pursue other interests in 2006 but now returns to take up this new senior post.

Adam said: "This is where I started and I am delighted to be back. As Technical Manager I shall not only be managing the company's laboratory but also supporting the commercial team and providing customer support."

Part of the Harsco Metals Group, SteelPhalt specialises in the conversion of steel slag into a surface course for road making. They have been developing and manufacturing high performance asphalt products for the UK roadmaking industry since the 1960's.

The exceptional strength and durability of steel slag extends the life of the road and lengthens road maintenance intervals for resurfacing.

It achieves high skid resistance - enhancing road safety for both drivers and pedestrians - and maintains it throughout the whole life of the road, also avoiding the use of quarried materials and the landfill of residual slag product.

The Templeborough company's products include SteelStop, SteelSurf, SteelPave and SteelFlow.
