News: Success for RCAT apprentices

By

Two students studying at Rotherham College of Arts & Technology (RCAT) have secured full-time jobs at a local firm after they complete their apprenticeships.

Iona Haynes and Vicky Bingham are in their final year of their City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 Technical Certificate in Fabrication and Welding.

The pair have been carrying out their apprenticeships at C.W Fletcher, a Rotherham-based engineering company that specialises in the aerospace industry and have now awarded the two with full-time jobs once their apprenticeship finishes.

The manufacturing firm at Waleswood has precision engineering experience for a range of customers in the aerospace, nuclear and related industries.

Both Iona and Vicky have been working on Rolls-Royce engines which are fitted into aeroplanes.

Steve Woodward, curriculum leader for fabrication and Welding Engineering at the College said: "I am very proud of them both, they are a true asset to the College and they are both passionate and professional when it comes to their career. Well done to them and I wish them the best of luck in the future."
