News: Get Set in Rotherham
Local employers will meet with the workforce of tomorrow at an event in Rotherham this week.
Get Set is a skills education and training event that bring employers and potential employees together at an informal venue in a way that breaks down communication barriers and opens opportunities.
Taking place at the Liquid & Envy nightclub in Rotherham town centre on June 27 and 28, the event aims to engage with young people to encourage them to take up the employment and training opportunities on offer in South Yorkshire.
Colleges, training providers and employers are attending and offering a broad range of educational opportunities, including apprenticeships.
Get Set will mix music, street-dance lessons, filming, editing and web designing in a way that breaks down communication barriers and opens opportunities, making the event different from a formal jobs fair.
Representatives due to attend include Rotherham College of Arts and Technology (RCAT), Rotherham Youth Enterprise, Rotherham United and Garnett Dickinson.
The Deputy Prime Minister is expected to announce today that subsidies made available for business to encourage them to take on young people out of work will be extended to include those out of work from six months.
