News: LSM awarded Made in Sheffield status
Rotherham-based London & Scandinavian Metallurgical Co Limited (LSM) has recently been accredited with the "Made in Sheffield" accolade.
Founded in 1938, LSM is a highly successful manufacturer of high specification metals and alloys and an acknowledged global leader in sustainable metal and powder technology. LSM's head office and main manufacturing plant is located on Fullerton Road.
LSM can apply as it holds a Sheffield "S" postcode but in order to be awarded the mark, a company must first demonstrate their commitment to producing high-quality products.
The Rotherham plant together with its sister company, LSM Brasil SA, based in Sao Joao del Rei, produces a range of specialised products for the aluminium industry, the steel industry, superalloys, hard facing, welding and the glass industry.
LSM employs over 250 people at its head office and manufacturing plant in Rotherham. It also has plants in the UK at its subsidiary company The Aluminium Powder Company Limited in Anglesey and Minworth and overseas at its subsidiary LSM Jiaxing based in China.
Exporting over 85% of products, LSM has a state of the art purpose built laboratory equipped with the latest analytical equipment and accredited to UKAS and Quality Management Standards.
David Beare, corporate director of LSM, said: "We are proud to have been awarded this accreditation, the achievement of this accolade further emphasises the growth and development of LSM as a quality manufacturer in the region."
Rotherham-based Queen's Award winners, Kiveton Park Steel has also recently secured the coveted Made In Sheffield status.
They join fellow Rotherham firms, AESSEAL, Bahco (SNA Europe), CMD, Cooper & Turner, CW Fletcher, EMSc, Ernest Bennett, Evernort, Fripp Design, Macalloy, MTL Group, Newburgh Engineering, Oakrange Engineering, Philford Design Engineers, Pinnula, PMS Diecasting Ltd, Polymer Techniques, Pyronix, Sizer, Tata Steel Speciality, Trelleborg, TWI, Tan Delta, University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing (AMRC).
