News: MTL Group make shortlist for Growing Business Award

Rotherham-based project manufacturing specialist, MTL Group, has been recognised as one of the UK's best exporters and named as a finalist at the Growing Business Awards.

MTL Group is one of Europe's fastest growing project manufacturing specialists in the metal sector and is a global supplier of secondary steelwork. It works with a global blue-chip customer base in the defence, construction equipment, rail and off-shore wind energy sectors.

Created by Real Business and the CBI in 1999, the Growing Business Awards are the most established recognition for the UK's most innovative entrepreneurs, growing businesses and stars of tomorrow.

MTL is one of six companies on the shortlist in the "Export Champion of the Year" category.

Since moving to a £5m, 300,00 sq ft state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Brinsworth in 2011, MTL has almost doubled its export sales to £7.3m.

Dr Neil Bentley, deputy-director general & chief operating officer at the CBI, said: "The UK's small and medium-sized firms have some of the greatest potential to grow and increase jobs, so creating the right conditions for them to do business in is critical to the health of our economy.

"The CBI is delighted to celebrate the achievements of these firms by supporting the Growing Business Awards."

The winners will be announced at an event in London in November.
