News: LSM in de-merger

By

The aluminium business of Rotherham-based London & Scandinavian Metallurgical Co Limited (LSM) has been de-merged and will operate as AMG Aluminum UK Limited.

Founded in 1938, LSM is a highly successful manufacturer of high specification metals and alloys and an acknowledged global leader in sustainable metal and powder technology.

Both companies will continue to operate at LSM's head office and main manufacturing plant on Fullerton Road and both remain part of the Dutch multinational, AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group N.V.

In 2007, a number of companies including LSM's parent company, Metallurg Inc. were combined to form the AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group N.V., which is listed on the NYSE Euronext stock exchange.

AMG Aluminum was formed in 2011 by combining the aluminum activities of KB Alloys, LSM UK, and LSM Brasil with headquarters in Pennsylvania, United States.

The company produces highly engineered specialty metal products for the Energy, Aerospace, Infrastructure, and Specialty Metals and Chemicals end markets.

In the UK, AMG helps to control the cast structure in the production of high quality aluminium alloy products by producing grain refiners, alloying elements and hardeners, and also manufactures a variety of specialty alloys for special applications.

LSM produces chromium metal, ferrotitanium, nickel boron and special powders.
