News: Motografix plan Rotherham expansion

By

Motografix, a Rotherham-based specialist provider of automotive protective graphics that supplies many of the world's top motorcycle riders and teams, is planning an expansion of it's town HQ.

Based in The Boiler House on Alma Road, the business was established in 1997 and manufactures a wide variety of tank pads, numberboards and decals for leading brand superbikes including Ducati, Suzuki, BMW and Kawasaki.

With designers working to order, products are exported around the world and customers include TT and superbike riders Guy Martin, Simon Andrews, Gary Johnson and Rotherham's own James Toseland. Other clients include Warner Brothers, Miramax and Channel Four.

Motografix has now submitted plans for a new showroom and workshop area that would help the business grow further and see them take on five new apprentices on the site.

Taking on the former wedding car showroom unit above their current premises would mean that the products would be given the showcase they deserve but will also bring together all parts of the business on to one site.

A new workshop would mean that creating templates and fitting the products could be done by Motografix staff on the customers' bikes in house, eliminating the time and costs associated with travelling thousands of miles to customers up and down the country.

Plans have also been prepared for a small retail area and a café.

Mark Jarvis, director and senior designer at Motografix is confident that the plans would take the business to the next level. He said: "The showroom is vital for the future development of the business. With a purpose built showroom we can confidently welcome and entertain important business clients, something we have had to put off in the past due to the lack of suitable space.

"The upper floors will enable customers to bring vehicles straight into our workshop. This much needed facility will be a huge benefit to Motografix.

"We are proud of our roots and believe in Rotherham. The venture is a positive move for the town and for local prosperity, creating jobs and encouraging outside investors to look at our borough."

A decision on the planning application is expected in May.
