News: Construction of new B&Q store in Rotherham completed

Henry Boot Developments Limited has recently completed construction of the new 50,000 sq.ft B&Q store at Northfields Retail and Business Park at Parkgate in Rotherham.


B&Q are currently fitting out the unit and hope to be open and trading during August this year.

Adjacent to the established Retail World Shopping Centre, Northfields Retail and Business Park is the first major retail scheme to be undertaken in Rotherham for over 10 years.

Vivienne Clements, Director of Henry Boot Developments, said: "We are delighted to have been able to deliver this development within such a tight timetable. We have managed to secure detailed planning and complete construction within just eight months."

Rob Cane of King Sturge acted for Henry Boot Developments. Retail units from 7,500 to 50,000 sq.ft are available within phase 2 of the scheme. 10,000 sq.ft of speculatively built prime industrial space is also available and further industrial units could be built on a design and build basis.

Job Centre Plus helped the DIY retailer to fill over 100 vacancies at the new store.

News: Henry Boot starts work on £6m Rotherham development

Henry Boot Construction has started work on a £6 million retail complex at Parkgate, Rotherham. The scheme will be the focal point of the Northfields Retail & Business Park, which is also being developed by Henry Boot. DIY giant, B&Q has taken 4,700 sq m at the heart of the development and is expected be open for trade in Summer 2009. Henry Boot Construction managing director Mick Mosley told CNPlus: "As a locally based contractor, this provides us with the opportunity to work on another major project for a well established client which will create new jobs and training opportunities, as well as continuing to provide employment for our own workforce and subcontractors, all of which will provide benefits for the local economy." Last month Henry Boot secured planning permission for 9,000 sq m of retail warehousing and 5,000 sq m of employment space on the Northfields site which is adjacent to the established Parkgate Shopping.

News: DIY giant takes 51,000 sq ft in Rotherham

B&Q has exchanged contracts with developer Henry Boot to take 51,000 sq ft at Northfields Retail & Business Park, Parkgate, Rotherham. Construction work is due to start in the Autumn and the B&Q unit is expected be open for trade in Summer 2009. Adjacent to the established Parkgate Shopping, Northfields had outline planning consent granted last year for 100,000 sq ft of retail accommodation and a range of industrial units. Vivienne Clements, Director at Henry Boot Developments said: "We are delighted that B&Q will be trading from Northfields. This first class anchor tenant is sure to kick start the development." B&Q currently operates from outlets on Greasbrough Street, close to the town centre and the Corton Wood Retail Park in the Dearne Valley.
