By

B&Q has exchanged contracts with developer Henry Boot to take 51,000 sq ft at Northfields Retail & Business Park, Parkgate, Rotherham. Construction work is due to start in the Autumn and the B&Q unit is expected be open for trade in Summer 2009. Adjacent to the established Parkgate Shopping, Northfields had outline planning consent granted last year for 100,000 sq ft of retail accommodation and a range of industrial units. Vivienne Clements, Director at Henry Boot Developments said: "We are delighted that B&Q will be trading from Northfields. This first class anchor tenant is sure to kick start the development." Rob Cane of King Sturge, Leeds, acted for Henry Boot Developments. Further retail units of between 10,000 sq ft and 50,000 sq ft are available, together with industrial space from 5,000 sq ft. B&Q currently operates from outlets on Greasbrough Street, close to the town centre and the Corton Wood Retail Park in the Dearne Valley.
