News: AMP host international visitors

By

The Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham will welcome international delegates from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) today.

Hosted by Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), the delegation will include senior UKTI representatives from its overseas operations in Serbia, Finland and Japan.

The UKTI delegates are visiting the City Region to find out more about the potential opportunities available for economic growth and international investment with their host countries with a specific focus on Low Carbon and Advanced Manufacturing. The delegates have travelled from various UKTI offices around the world.

The LEP, in partnership with local authorities from across the region, arranged a number of presentations and visits to key businesses in the city region from a range of sectors.

The visit will also take in the Barnsley College Think Low Carbon Centre, which delivers courses in low carbon technologies for building industry professionals.  They will also hear presentations at Barclays bank in Sheffield, on the City Region's strengths in the renewables, advanced manufacturing and IT sectors.

David Grey MBE, board member of the LEP, said: "The LEP is proud to showcase the Sheffield City Region's expertise in renewable energy and other sectors in the region to international delegates. This important activity generates business opportunities and relationships for the future."

Earlier this month, a delegation from Kosovo, including Government Ministers and senior business people visited the AMP as part of a trade mission to the Sheffield Region, organised by the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.
