News: Xeros Joins EarthShare to raise awareness

By

Xeros Inc., a subsidiary of innovative Rotherham company, Xeros Ltd, has parntered with EarthShare, a US federation that supports the country's most respected environmental organizations, in a bid to boost exports of its "virtually waterless" washing machine.

The Leeds University spin-out, based on the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP), has developed a patented system using a unique method of special polymer beads rather than the usual large amounts of fresh water to clean clothes. Instead a small amount of water is added to loosen clothing stains and activate the beads.

As Xeros enters the United States market, the company will work with EarthShare to introduce its patented cleaning technology and educate people about the importance of water and energy conservation. Xeros will provide support for EarthShare's mission of environmental stewardship, while EarthShare will support Xeros' sustainability efforts through consumer education and outreach.

Bill Westwater, Chief Executive Officer of Xeros Ltd, said: "Xeros is proud to be partnering with EarthShare to continue to build awareness of our business and brand.

"EarthShare supports America's most responsible environmental and conservation charities. We're honored to be working with EarthShare to create a better world for all of us to live in."

At the end of last year, Xeros secured its first deal with a US hotel when the 518-room Hyatt Regency Reston in Virginia installed the eco-friendly commercial scale Xeros washing machine.

The Xeros system, that uses up to 70-90% less water than traditional washing machines, was installed at a first site in America last August, at Sterling Linen Services, a high-quality linen processing and rental service for area hotels, hospitals and restaurants, in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Kal Stein, president and CEO at EarthShare, added: "We were impressed by Xeros' mission to introduce a product that will help commercial and private users reduce their water and energy consumption, and by their commitment to supporting critical environmental issues.

"We are grateful for their support and excited to work with them toward their goal of introducing a product that can have a positive impact on the environment."
