News: New offices for Steelphalt’s Rotherham team

By

Road surface specialist Steelphalt has invested in new purpose built offices at their Rotherham site as it continues to take on new staff.

The move brings together for the first time departments that have previously been at different locations around the company's Sheffield Road site at Templeborough.

SteelPhalt has been developing and manufacturing high performance asphalt products for the UK road making industry since the 1960s, sourcing slag cost-effectively from the surrounding steel industry and providing a sustainable way of making asphalt, with at least 95 per cent of the product the result of the recycling process.

Dean Raynor, commercial manager at Steelphalt (pictured, above), said: "We believe that by bringing everybody together it will enable us to be much more productive and proactive.

"All under one roof now you will find the production, administration, sales and operations teams, the first time this has ever happened.

"And closer cooperation between those departments will mean an even greater level of customer service than we already offer."

Part of the Harsco Metals Group, the company works in partnership with councils, local authorities and contractors nationwide to deliver durable roads for a sustainable world.

The exceptional strength and durability of SteelPhalt's steel slag products extends the life of roads and lengthens road maintenance intervals for resurfacing.

It achieves high skid resistance - enhancing road safety for both drivers and pedestrians - and maintains it throughout the whole life of the road, also avoiding the use of quarried materials and the landfill of residual slag product.

The company has recently appointed Martin Gray as senior operations manager at the principal SteelPhalt site in Templeborough, and also with the company's operations at the nearby Outokumpu and at Sheffield Forgemasters.

Martin (pictured, right) said: "My aim is to enhance the levels of support and efficiency across all three sites, allowing our operations at Outokumpu and Forgemasters to feed even more successfully and productively into SteelPhalt.

"We are providing a slag removal service that is both cost effective and good for the environment and the product that slag goes into at SteelPhalt is now providing greener and safer road surfaces across the region."
