News: Beatson Clark back at Beer X

By

Rotherham glass manufacturer Beatson Clark is returning to the Beer X event in Sheffield this week and is offering visitors a tour of its nearby factory.

The Yorkshire-based glass manufacturer specialises in helping independent breweries find the perfect bottles for their beers, and the annual conference of SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers, is just one of a number of brewing-focused events that the company will be attending in 2016.

The industry event takes place at Ice Sheffield from March 16 - 18 before opening to the public on Saturday. It is the biggest dedicated trade exhibition in the UK of companies supplying the brewing industry.

The Greasborough Road firm, which has been making glass bottles and jars in Rotherham since 1751, specialises in providing glass packaging solutions for niche brands in the food, drink and pharmaceutical markets worldwide. It manufactures bottles for many well known breweries including Robinson's, Meantime, Bedlam and Brooklyn Brewery in New York.

Charlotte Taylor, marketing manager at Beatson Clark, said: "BeerX takes place in Sheffield and as our premises are just round the corner in Rotherham we will be offering a full factory tour to breweries alongside the show.

"We will be providing transportation to and from the exhibition for any brewery wishing to see the beer bottles being made."

The historic company, now part of the Newship Group, has recently put in place a long term, £12m investment programme in Rotherham with new furnaces, packing machines and CAD systems.

Beatson Clark has recently appointed Jan-Willem Ridt as export manager to manage all export accounts as well as taking a lead on winning new business overseas. Joining from sister company, Pont Europe, Ridt's focus will be on the booming craft beer market both in Europe and worldwide.

Jan-Willem Ridt, export manager at Beatson Clark, said: "Over the years I've developed a strong relationship with everyone at Beatson Clark while acquiring and managing important European accounts for their glass packaging products.

"My existing relationship with colleagues in sales, design and quality made moving to Beatson Clark an obvious choice when the opportunity occurred, but I also wanted to move because Beatson Clark offers special glass packaging solutions, exciting new products and added value for its customers."

Lynn Sidebottom, sales and marketing director at Beatson Clark, added: "This at a very busy time for export; we are seeing more and more brands, particularly breweries, looking for smaller volumes of premium bespoke glass packaging. Jan-Willem will be pursuing these opportunities as well as looking after our existing export customer base and attending major trade shows that we are exhibiting at such as BrewExpo in the United States and BrauBeviale in Germany."
