News: Rotherham facility boosts bakery firm's finances

By

The growth in the UK bagel market has led to good financial results for the Canadian owned company, Maple Leaf Bakery. The demand has been met by the company increasing capacity at its Rotherham bagel facility. The UK subsidiary has an annual turnover of £80 million with the Rotherham facility producing 70,000 bagels every hour under the "New York Bagel Co." brand. The bakery employs 1000 people in Swinton and has plans for a further £4 million investment to expand its frozen bagel capacity. Maple Leaf UK was named as Bakery Food Manufacturer of The Year at last year's Bakery Awards.
