News: Rotherham receives accolades from education officials

By

This March, the ‘Made in Rotherham’ celebration event showcased the borough’s achievements in enterprise learning and Rotherham Ready received positive feedback from some of the UK’s leading education practitioners. Students, teachers and entrepreneurs came together to celebrate Rotherham’s transformation in teaching and learning. The event included presentations from students showcasing their enterprise skills and a speech from entrepreneur Julie Kenny CBE DL. Ian Hughes, DCSF Enterprise Education Policy Leader said: “Rotherham has a head start on enterprise learning but every other borough needs it. Rotherham, in terms of enterprise education, is famous and people are looking to copy you. My mission is to persuade more people to incorporate it into school life.” Through the link up with the University of Warwick, Rotherham Ready is now exploring the creation of a Centre of Excellence. Project Manager Jackie Frost said: “We have not only achieved our original vision but are now on our way to creating something really exciting which is changing the face of teaching and learning in Rotherham.”
