News: KTP R&D for Rotherham's C&W

By

Rotherham engineering firm, Cutting & Wear Resistant Ltd has embarked on a three-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) research and development project in partnership with the Research Centre in Surface Engineering at the University of Sheffield. The project is centred on the development of novel hard facings and new coatings to enhance wear, erosion and corrosion resistance for down hole drilling equipment. The partnership enables the firm to access University expertise and facilities (such as advanced materials testing and analytical techniques) to enhance their research and development capabilities. Since the project started in January 2007, Yin Kok, Cutting & Wear's KTP associate has identified some of the causes of (and solutions to) cracking problems encountered when re-dressing down hole tools and studied the benefits of using Cutting & Wear's products in oil drilling operations.
