News: The grass is greener in Manvers

By

York company, Green-tech has been awarded a National Gold Award for their Greentree topsoil used to help remediate a former colliery in Manvers, Rotherham. The award was presented by Professor David Bellamy at the prestigious The Green Awards 2008 event held at The Tower of London. "This award is a real confirmation that our efforts have been worth it to create and promote a topsoil from recycled materials" said Mark Whiting, Sales Director for Green-tech. Over 30,000 tonnes of manufactured topsoil was imported to the lakeside site, approximately one third of which comprised organic waste compost derived from Local Authority green waste collections. The topsoil will provide all the landscaping needs for the golf course, a major part of the £130m Manvers Waterfront mixed-used development that also includes residential, leisure, commercial and industrial units. The environmental and cost benefits for developer, TCN UK, in selecting Green-tech's topsoil were clear to see.
