News: Dormer add expert engineers to Rotherham development facility

By

Dormer Tools has added seven new specialist engineers to help lead its state of the art research and development facility. The cutting tools giant is creating a R&D centre at their multi-million pound site which is being built at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham. David Goulbourne, Development Manager for Drills at Dormer Tools, has pulled together a team of 12 engineers and technicians to create the next generation of cutting tools. He said: "Our aim is to improve customer productivity and reduce the cost of components for our customers. The R&D facility will become a centre of excellence in hole-making drilling and composite machining, working alongside organisations like the AMRC, who are also based at the AMP." The R&D team of 12 includes experts from around the world, including Sheffield, alongside an apprentice and a locally based PhD student - who is being sponsored by Dormer Tools. David added: "We have developed a group of people from varying levels of experience and knowledge to compliment the growth of the company. "The city has always created skilled tool makers and we want this to continue for many more years to come. By having up-and-coming engineers working alongside experts from the local area and further a field, can only help the development of the next generation."
