By

Rotherham tourist destination, The Magna Science Adventure Centre, has once again picked up an award at the Yorkshire Tourist Board's White Rose Awards. Employee, John Heaps won the Outstanding Customer Service Award, on a night which saw Magna narrowly miss out in the Visitor Attraction of the Year (50,000 visitors & over) category. Ex-steelworker John has worked at Magna for six years and is the senior visitor services co-ordinator. The centre has picked up an award at the last three ceremonies including twice winning the Business Tourism Award. The White Rose Awards are a celebration of excellence and underpin YTB’s aim to drive up the quality of Yorkshire’s tourism industry. The awards are an important accolade for businesses as they bring with them the prestige of associated publicity and are a highly respected symbol of quality for consumers. Andy Tordoff, of supporters, Yorkshire Forward, said: "The White Rose Awards are an excellent way to showcase the high standard of Yorkshire and Humber’s tourism industry. I would like to congratulate the finalists and all those who won a prestigious White Rose Award which symbolises excellence and are recognised by the industry and customers alike." Magna's Managing Director Matthew Beck commented: "We are delighted that John has won another customer service award on behalf of Magna. It is a reflection of John’s hard work, experience and passion, which brings Magna to life for our visitors. The Outstanding Customer Service Award is a very competitive award, and we are delighted one of our staff has received the recognition for their efforts."
