News: Rotherham entrepreneurs set new standards

By

The standard and success of businesses set up and run by young people in Rotherham is incredible, say judges of Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2008. Back the third year running, the competition has again uncovered some thriving young companies in the borough - that we could be seeing more of over the next few years. Awards organiser and judge Geoff Link, enterprise manager at Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO) the council’s regeneration arm, said: "We’ve been bowled over by some of the entries this year. "Every one of them is switched on, driven and determined to succeed. It’s very satisfying to be able to give the next generation a helping hand on the way to even greater success. "It’s great news for them and for Rotherham." The winners in the four categories Best New Start Up, Best Established Business, Best Business Using IT/ technology and Most Determined to Succeed were each awarded £500 to put towards their business at an awards ceremony at RiDO’s newly-opened business centre for start-ups Fusion@ Magna. Runners up received £250. The overall winner will receive the title Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2008. Rothbiz will be profiling the shortlisted companies in the run up to the announcement at the Chamber Business Awards on October 24.
