News: Former 'Dragon' enters South Yorkshire

By

Former Dragon's Den star Rachel Elnaugh will offer local people an insight into life as an entrepreneur at an event at Sheffield Hallam University on Tuesday October 28. The Bakewell-based businesswoman is promoting her first book, Business Nightmares, which documents her eventful experiences as an entrepreneur. She will be talking about her experiences in the business world, followed by a book signing. The event is part of the Peak Book Festival and is the first time that the festival has held an event outside of the Bakewell district and into a city. Although she started her career as an office junior, Rachel shot to fame in 2005 as one of the original Dragons in the BBC's business show Dragons' Den. After the well-publicised crash of her company, Red Letter Days, Rachel turned to working in the small business sector as an inspirational business speaker and mentor. Rachel said: "The Sheffield and Rotherham area is known as a real stronghold for business, and the entrepreneurial support that the universities provide plays a tangible role in this success. I understand Sheffield Hallam's Enterprise Centre has a very impressive history of successfully launching new businesses in the region."
