Manufacturing companies from Liyang in China will be visiting the region on March 23, each looking to forge new relationships in the region. The Chinese delegation will be attending a briefing on the trade opportunities on offer in Yorkshire and Humber at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham and local manufacturing companies are being urged to take advantage of the opportunity to meet with these companies to explore the potential of mutually beneficial trade opportunities. Liyang is one of China's top 100 cities for economic growth, with its main focus on manufacturing and the 18 visiting companies vary in scale from start-ups of 40 to 2,000 employees and all have an interest in either developing customers or markets in Europe and the UK, or improving their processing and manufacturing capabilities through joint ventures or technical collaboration. The background of the visiting companies is mainly metals production and volume manufacturing, with many already selling to European companies. The delegation is being hosted by Yorkshire Forward and UK Trade & Investment, with the support of the Sheffield China Business Network. Theresa Lindsay, Assistant Director of Business at Yorkshire Forward said: "The visiting companies are involved in all the major elements of metals manufacturing – from large scale castings, through forging and fabrication, to industrial components. "Events like this are a great opportunity for regional businesses to look at ways of growing their customer base through trade links and partnerships."
