News: Magna and the Chamber win business tourism award

By

The Chamber and Rotherham's Magna Centre have won the Corporate Event of the Year prize in the prestigious Yorkshire Business Insider Business Tourism Awards. Catering for over 400 people the Presidents Ball transformed Magna into "Around the World in 80 Days", delighting all those who attended in May 2008. Matthew Beck, Managing Director of Magna, commented: "We are delighted to have won this award, following on from our success at last year's Yorkshire Business Insider Awards as Large Venue of the Year." Rob Hannon, Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce's Rotherham President, said: "We are proud to be recognised for the hard work put into this event by both the Chamber and Magna, and the staff at both organisations. I trust this will again be reflected in the 2009 President's Ball on Saturday 16 May, at which the centenary of the Chamber of Commerce in Rotherham will be celebrated." Mike Smith, Chairman of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, said: "As Chairman of Chamber and Magna trustee, I feel that this award win is a rightful recognition of a marvellous, all-round team effort by the staff at the Chamber and Magna. This is an accurate reflection on the strong relationship between the Chamber and Magna which I know will produce another superb President's Ball in May this year."
